So you decided to spend Halloween in Vegas.
Not a bad idea at all. The weather’s usually decent, people are already in the mood to go out, and the costume range is wide…slutty, funny, historical, over-the-top. It’s a shame the world has gotten real-life scary enough that full-blown horror costumes don’t land the same way they used to, but there’s still plenty of fun left. I wanted to put together a short list of can-dos and must-dos that fit the kind of Halloween night I’m actually after. No pure family stuff. No giant event dump. Just the ones that make sense to me.

Universal Horror Unleashed (AREA15)
This is the one real scare option on the list. Four houses (Universal Monsters, Texas Chainsaw, Exorcist: Believer, Scarecrow). It’s intense. The catch is the pricing. They jacked it for Halloween, one-time access is running $74.99–$94.99 depending on the day. No wonder the place isn’t packing people in the way they hoped. The one time of year more people actually want to go, they hit them with the classic Vegas price adjustment.
That said, if there was ever a time of year to go waste a little money on something like this, Halloween is it. Weeknights are still the better move if you’re going.
ScAREA15: Strange Circus (AREA15, Oct 31)
This one sounds like actual fun. Valentino Khan, roaming performers, multiple spaces, the whole strange-circus thing. I found general admission at $46.82 on their site. 18+. If you want a party that feels a little different from a regular club night, this could be the one.
Costumes Under the Canopy (Fremont Street, Oct 31)
This is going to be a blast. How could it not be? It’s free. It’s Fremont. It’s under the canopy. Live music, food trucks, a costume contest with $8,500 in prizes. I’m not sure what more anyone could ask for if they want the big free outdoor version of Halloween.
Haunted Heights (Legacy Club at Circa, Oct 31)
If you want to be downtown but in a more private party setting instead of the full Fremont chaos, this is probably your best bet. Free entry, high-floor views, $5,000 costume contest. You can visit the RSVP Link Here . 21+. Costume rules are stricter (no full-face paint/masks, no weapons).
Zombie Burlesque (V Theater, Planet Hollywood)
I’m not a huge fan of most production shows, and Miracle Mile isn’t my favorite stretch of the Strip, but this one is pretty funny. Campy 1950s undead burlesque. Worth a visit if you’re already in town and in the Halloween spirit. I wouldn’t make it your main October 31 attraction, but it’s a solid side option. Tickets often show up discounted around the theater or online.
The Haunted Inn (Palms)
If you’re in town, this is a definite stop. Free 21+ immersive pop-up through the 31st (Wed–Sun from 5 p.m.). Drinks like Lady Palms’ Black Magic, Grandpa’s Nightcap, Blood Drive, Kill of the Day, Six Feet Under, A Toast from the Grave. It’s an immersive evening of decadent dining, scandalous cocktails, and a staff of characters who need clearer boundaries. Dress the part. Costume rules are reasonable, no real or replica weapons, no full-face masks or makeup that fully hides your identity, no pure nudity/sheer (booooo). Easy to pair with Ghostbar upstairs.
Ghostbar (Palms, Oct 29–31)
If you’re already at the Palms, this is a must. Halloween night (the 31st) is free admission, $10 Ketel One cocktails until 11 p.m., a $1,000 cash costume contest, and DJ J-Bray on the 55th-floor rooftop. Free parking is common. Ultra Naté is on the 30th. Easy add-on to the Haunted Inn. Great way to spend some Halloween time and hang at one of my favorite off-strip properties.
Sin City Halloween Ball (Virgin Hotels Theater, Oct 31)
This is the one that gets freaky. It’s their 30th anniversary. I went back when it was at the Hard Rock and I can tell you you will not forget it. Dress the part, (think just shy of nudity ladies) have some drinks, and have some fun. If a bit of kink and flesh doesn’t bother you, this is worth going to. Tickets are available at their link: Here
Do yourself a favor though and read over the dress code its likely going to make you want to go more, but if any of it offends you, please don’t try, it’s not for the faint of heart. If you’re ok with things still, this is the party!!
That’s the list that fits the kind of Halloween I’m looking for. Free or low-effort options mixed with the one or two paid things that actually make sense. The weather should cooperate. People will be out. You just have to decide how much chaos versus how much control you want in the night.
What’s your move, Fremont chaos, a rooftop, the Ball, or something else?
