We hadn’t stayed at MGM Grand in a real way since 2017.

Sure, we’ve grabbed MyVEGAS comps here and there. Midday second rooms for Pool day access. But actually staying, playing, dining, and letting MGM be the home base? It had been a while.

That wasn’t accidental.

Most of our Stripcations lately revolve around VGK games or longer-term rentals where amenities matter more than casino proximity. MGM sits in a weird spot. Prime location, yes, but surrounded by peak South Strip hustle stupidity. Add in the fact that the rooms feel far from the Strip entrance, and it just hasn’t been calling our name.

But when we were looking for a cheap stay to catch a few Knights games before the Olympic break, MGM quietly had the best deal on the board.

And with the resort finishing a major remodel last November, it felt like time.


Why MGM Was Back on the Radar

We managed to hold Gold status for another year, and I’ve been pretty transparent about how that happens. I use the MGM credit card for everyday purchases. Combine that with frequent stays and suddenly 75,000 tier credits a year isn’t some mythical grind, it’s just math. I’ve broken this down before, and it still works.
