This Chinese Restaurant Is Always Empty. That’s Why I Love It.
The Best Seat at MGM Grand Might Be the One Nobody Wants.
Grand Wok exists in a parallel universe.
A universe where you don’t need a reservation.
A universe where nobody is filming TikToks.
A universe where you can actually get dinner without planning your entire evening around it.

Somehow, in the middle of MGM Grand, one of the busiest resorts on the Strip, there’s a Chinese restaurant that remains weirdly ignored.
And I keep going back.
The Mongolian Beef is fresh and tasty (even if it’s not the most photogenic dish on earth). The fried rice and lo mein are reliable. They’ve got a decent little sake list that actually works with the food. Nothing groundbreaking, but nothing disappointing either. Especially after a long day at the pool or wandering the South Strip.
Most of the time? The place is almost empty.
Meanwhile, people are happily standing in 45-minute lines for restaurants they’re going to complain about on the walk back to their room.
Vegas has developed a strange disease where people assume expensive means good.
It doesn’t.
Sometimes the best meal decision you make all trip is the place nobody posted on Instagram.
The Verdict
Grand Wok isn’t going to win any awards for “most innovative Chinese restaurant in Vegas.”
But that’s not the point.
It’s there when you need it. It’s consistent. It’s affordable. And it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.
In a city full of hype and long lines for mid food, sometimes the quiet spot that’s almost always empty is exactly what you want.
If you’re staying at MGM, New York-New York, Park MGM, or anywhere South Strip and you’re craving Chinese without the hassle or the wait… Grand Wok is worth remembering.
